Uruguay Missions

Last night we got a peek at what missionary life is REALLY like. Let me tell you all, they had us fooled!

Since we were passing out gospels in the morning, we weren't able to attend church. So we decided to visit a couple of home churches. Home churches or casa iglesias (=D) are basically churches inside someone's house. A group of 5 to 15 people gather and have music, prayer, study, and sharing. David, Carla, Suzanna, and Mallory went to a different house church then myself, Michelle, Bart, and Ron. My house church was very small, but it did fit about 10 elderly women inside! We presented the sewing materials to Nelsa (who says Muchas Gracias) and Noelia prayed for the first time in English! But it was when we left for the other house church that things got interesting.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a bunch of boisterous Uruguayans sharing Mate (the local tea drink) and snacks, music, and...DANCING! Yes...we Baptists danced! (Not very well, but we danced) There was someone on the guitar playing music, and then the entire group stood up, formed a line, and danced through the halls, which were built to hold a table and some chairs...not a group of rowdy baptists! The festivities were caught on camera, much to Ron and Carla's dismay! Yes, now their secret is out! We all know now what this missionary work is all about!

In other news...our plane leaves this afternoon...and we should arrive in Battle Creek either late Tuesday afternoon, or night. I hope to see you all soon!

Thank you for your prayers!

Rebecca
